PSA 8.1 — Flange Leakage: Equivalent Pressure, NC-3658.3 and ASME VIII App. 2
An 8″ hot-oil pump discharge. The stress report is clean: sustained 22 % of Sh, expansion 61 % of S_A, pump nozzle loads inside the API 610 Table 5 envelope. It is signed, built and commissioned.
Every start-up, the first flange off the discharge nozzle weeps. Not a spray — a bead of oil that appears at about 140 °C, runs for an hour, and stops once the line is fully hot. Operations re-torque it twice a year and eventually wrap it in a leak-clamp.
