PSA 6.4 — Air Coolers (API 661) & Fired Heaters (API 560): Boxes That Leak and Coils That Walk
An air-cooled exchanger bank: four bundles side by side, 2.4 m pitch, 10 m tubes, inlet vapour at 130 °C. The 8″ branch from the collector manifold drops into the nozzle on top of each header box. Two of the four bundles were piped at the fixed end of the bundle, two at the floating end, because that is how the isometrics came out and nobody wrote a rule.
The tube bundle grows along its own length:
